Biography

Mitch Goldstein is a designer, artist, educator, and author based in Rochester, New York, USA.

He is an Associate Professor in the School of Design at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he teaches in the College of Art and Design. Over the past twenty years, he has taught at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Virginia Commonwealth University (VCUarts), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and other institutions. Mitch also maintains a creative practice focusing on various disciplines such as graphic design, wet darkroom photography, sculpture, and furniture design. He also writes and speaks about art and design education, pedagogy, and creative practice. His book “How To Be A Design Student (And How To Teach Them)” was published by Princeton Architectural Press/Chronicle Books in 2023.

He received an MFA in Furniture Design from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2023, an MFA in Design and Visual Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts in 2012, and a BFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design in 2006.
